Macrorie House Museum is meticulously curated. One is taken into the past with this lovingly restored and researched home. I learnt so much about old Pietermaritzburg. This is a must as a school outing. Roxy--the guide at the time was excellent.

We had a great afternoon at Macrorie House, complete with tea and cake and a tour of the premises. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys authentic Victorian architecture or is just looking for something different to do in Pietermaritzburg.

This little house is furnished with Victorian furniture and offers a fascinating glimpse into life in Pietermaritzburg in the late 1880s and 1890s.

Unfortunately due to continued vandalism the museum has had to close its doors. The collection is being rehoused ..not sure where. A great loss to Pietermaritzburg.
