Marakele national park is a beautiful reserve with magnificent mountain views (make sure to go up to the lenong viewing point to not only see the beautiful view, but also to spot the largest colony of cape vultures in the world). The reserve is split in 2: The one side of the reserve contains the bontle camping site (great, neat,... More

The lower half of the park has been overgrazed and is now covered with one type of weed between the acacias and on the no less than four occasions I went saw nothing but a few impala and one or two kudu. The upper part is a much more diverse habitat and offers spectacular views but again you will be... More

Marakele is one of the newer reserves in South Africa, but worth a visit if you're into birding and the smaller animals. The mountain drive is well worth it for the incredible views of Limpopo and the Waterberge. We stayed 3 nights, which was ample for this small reserve

Marakele is not a very known National Park (member of San Parks), but it is absolutely beautiful. There are not many roads, so it might be a bit difficult to see a lot of animals, but the panorama is absolutely breathtaking and the vulture colony really interesting (the biggest in the world, more than 800 breeding pairs on the mountain!).... Spent a few days at Marakele as part of a birding/ game viewing week in the area. We camped. the campsite has great views over an open plain. Game comments send feed on this plain especially in the evenings and it is quite enjoyable sitting watching them. The game viewing is tough but we were lucky enough to see the... More

We loved being on the peak of a mountain. The fresh wind blowing and the view on top is absolutely amazing.

What a delightful visit...an early morning ( 5am) game game drive delivered loads of rhinos , impala, zebra , koedoe and wildebeest on show. The drive up the very very steep mountain takes some concentration but is worth every single minute of the drive. Along the way we say at leat 4 types of Proteas growing wild and thriving. Once... Don´t expect too much game coming to this park, but for sure you will see at least some. We were happy enough to see ellies, rhino, jackal, and also usual staff like zebras, impalas, giraffes, kudus and ostriches, but what makes this park outstanding is its mountaineous scenery and the viewpoint from 2050 metres. There are some heartbreaking views around... More

Spent a great 2 nights at Tliopi Campsite in tents equipped with fully equipped kitchens and wonderful views of the dam from the decking outside. Elephants and kudu came to drink from the dam and the vervet monkeys were very quick to steal a bag of crisps as we were just unpacking. The vultures were a disappointment but good sightings...
