We are located on a 2000 hectare Bushveld property, owned by the Sandford community trust. Horse Whispers is a company that offers a wide variety of horse trails. The well-being and future of these horses is dependent on the income from horse trails and donations. Most of these horses came from foster homes and were field horses fairly familiar to human interaction, some did not trust humans at all and others had no understanding of personal space. The training of these horses consisted of halter work, trusting and respecting humans, desensitization exercises, groundwork, preparing for a rider, backing and riding away with a safe, confident horse! Today, these horses able to play a significant role in brighting the lives of underprivileged children. The program teach more than just riding; children develop life skills such as self-confidence, responsibility and discipline – and can have a positive impact on academic performance too. Join us for an unforgettable horse riding experience through the Hazyview bushveld with an en-route stop to meet 6 majestic African Elephants.Or go on a breathtaking ride alongside the river and through the hills leads to an idyllic picnic site in a secluded valley. Enjoy your lunch in the shaded canopy provided by the indigenous Matumi trees. Participate in a cattle drive which is a cattle round up on the Sandford Reserve, where a small number of cattle are located and gathered and moved to the nearest water source. The cattle are moved at a walk, any faster than a walk and you run the fat off them, most unwelcomed by any farmer. There is some faster work occasionally to retrieve runaways. We also offer 30 min, one hour and two hour bush outrides.

We took the 2 hour option with picnic, and it was lots of fun! You go uphill and downhill which is quite scary, but makes it worth it. Then you sit and eat your picnic in peace on a garden table and chair. Highly recommended.

A wonderful afternoon outing for our family, including my 14 year old daughter. The staff of Horse Whispers are friendly, knowledgeable and well trained. The horses are in an excellent condition and the trails breath-taking.

The friendly staff at Horse Whispers made sure to do everything they could to make my husband comfortable riding the horse, this is after he got off the horse and changed his mind about riding because the horse is amazingly powerful, you can only understand the power of the horse when you start riding, nothing like you see on tv,... Booking only a day in advance we were able to go on a 2 hour trail through the mountains with the 6 of us. Ageing from 21 - 30, some with lots of experience, others had never been on a horse. A horse for everyone's abilities and a very friendly guide. Those who were experienced at the back, so they... More

We did a lovely picnic ride of two hours with our two kids of 10 and 12 years old. It was very relaxing with beautiful views, and the picnic was delicious.

My husband and I arrived for our horse back tour on time, but the place was under construction and nothing was prepared for the tour we scheduled in advance. I have been riding my entire life and my husband was a beginner. I explained my expert level, but said I did not want to deal with a feisty horse on... More

Dear Mam, I apologize for your experience at the facility that you are referring to. Are you sure it was with us? We have not had any construction work in the last 2 months. We do not have any untrained horses? I've never had a complain before where the staff is unfriendly. Kindly refer to the other references on tripadvisor.... More

If you are in the Hazyview area, would suggest that you visit this place. It's a one hour horse ride and you are a novice, the horses are pretty sedate. We enjoyed it with our 8 year old daughter.

I was touched by this place. Marina was amazing to us and showed us around the place, gave my daughter a wonderful horse riding lesson. She told us about all the horses and where they come from. We have also donated money to her beautiful cause. A wonderful couple of hours - a lifetime memory.
