Visited and stayed overnight with my family and the experience was brilliant. The park itself is a testament to the kindness of people toward these amazing creatures, as well as a sobering reminder of mans inhumanity toward creatures when they want to use them as...More

There are far too many pseudo lion sanctuaries in South Africa, where many lions later on meet a sad end. But Drakenstein is NOT one of them. This is the real deal. Here it is all about the lions. You cannot pet or walk these...More

It's a place where lions who have suffered in almost unimaginable ways from human atrocities find shelter and rescue. The owner and staff put the lions natural needs always in the first place. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication.

The place takes care of Lions (and a small zoo next door), and we were really impressed with the attentive and caring staff. What a great cause! We spent 2 hours with very happy two 8yo kids.

Animal lovers rejoice, great staff and amenities for these RESCUED Lions. Takes about 1 hour to get there from Marina Hotel in Cape Town by car. We were fortunate to have a local trusted driver called Jack at our disposal ( Ph +27725850904) who was...More

Very nice place to visit. They rehabilitate animals there and give them life long care and not breed them. Eye opening place. Lovely animals which went through a lot. Lions are pretty lazy there. Feeding times are most likely the most interesting but then these...More

It's worth visiting, not simply to see lions but also to support a good cause. Lions are well looked after. I recommend visiting at feeding time so you see the animals being more active (check their website for more info).

For starters the place has a lions park and a chimp world. We didn't see a lot of chimps or any monkeys though. Would probably have bought tickets for the Lions visit only. The visit is unguided and the best time to be there is...More

This is a wonderful place to experience the roar of lions so incredibly close to Cape Town. I am not a tent person however the comfortable beds and 'proper' adjoining bathrooms make it very comfortable. One has the place to oneself after closing time (5pm)...More

Good care taken by dedicated staff for these lions that were badly treated before been taken in by this park. An eye opener for the children

It's really a self guided tour so you can gauge. I'd say we spent an hour and saw most all we wanted to see. If you have smaller children it'll take longer because you are walking all around the grounds. Try really hard... More
