My family and I were met with an over- the-top battering of questions from security team at guard gate. We had our passports as ID as we'd heard that was required. Pictures were taken of the passports. Endless questions were asked and respectfully answered by me. They asked if I knew someone in Cape Town, if they were Jewish, if... More

This is one of the most beautiful synagogues in Cape Town. I got married here some 40 odd years ago. It is an orthodox synagogue which means that the men sit downstairs and the women sit upstairs. Really large and very open and a wonderful feeling to be there

Absolute amazing museum of the Jewish community in Cape Town. The museum takes you through the Jewish influence on the start of the colony in South Africa. They were the first bankers, entrepreneurs, doctors and accountants that assisted in building the economy in Cape Town. Also it shows the hardships that they had to endure in South Africa and also... You need to show a picture ID to enter this complex which also contains the Jewish Museum as well as the Holocaust Museum. We were able to enter the shul and given a brief tour and information about the building and congregation.

Beautiful. Attended wedding there. My husband grew up as a congregant and bar mitzvah boy in this synagogue. There is also a lovely very informative Jewish Museum and cafe behind the Synagogue.

We were lucky to have someone to take us around and tell us about the history of the building. Lovely architecture and well maintained. Don't miss the Holocaust Centre which is part of the same complex.

The synagogue is lovely, well maintained and has benefitted in the recent years from some really beautiful stained glass windows. Very nice visit.
