Though the beach is still popular, the elegant splendor that once graced this seaside resort community barely shows through the paved-over streets, fast-food eateries and shopping centers.

About 40 minutes from the waterfront and Cape Town city centre is Muizenberg beach. Many restaurants line up the beach front and this is the beach to swim or have a good walk. Although busy it has the calmness and beauty expected from a beach. Unfortunately there are no beach chairs or umbrellas for hire. Strongly recommend as the beach... More

Good beach, nice for kids and surfers, with good infrastructure on background. The colored houses gives a different touch like you go back on time. Nice views also.

Stopped off here while on drive and to be fair there is a great chance to take some really nice photos. The coloured beach huts and their setting is a bit iconic. The beach itself was not busy and it is beside the railway line although there did not appear to be many trains going through. At least while we... More

Great place to visit with children during summer. AVOID if the South Easter is blowing as you will be sand blasted. If you are surfer, you need to go to "The corner " especially when the North Wind is blowing as the waves are perfect. Sharks can be a problem if fish are about, however there are shark watchers on... More

Muizenberg is the place to go to to escape city busy-ness. It's a quiet, relaxed Hippie-/Surfer-town and great for spending a day at the beach. Surfer's Corner is where you need to be!! There's parking, loads of surf shops and surf lessons/rentals, various snack-opportinities (cafés with great views of the beach, bakeries with amazingly delicious freshly baked breads or croissants,... We stayed at the african soul surfer hostel which was right at the strip of Muizenberg. We thought we could go lie down at the beach and enjoy the sun. Which is not really a thing to do there. It's almost always very windy. So If you lie down, you will have lots of sand blown in your face. It... More

This beach is profiled on the Cape Town Lonely Planet guidebook. Picturesque and worth a stop for some photos!
