St George's Cathedral is a beautiful display of sacred architecture exhibiting the layout of a cross and a magnificent rose window. There is also a beautiful rose labyrinth modeled similarly on the one at Chatres Cathedral, France. A historical and symbolic 'lecture' is also offered on the labyrinth on certain days before being given the opportunity to walk it. The... More

St. George's Cathedral is in the centre of the old Cape Town. We participated in the Eastern Sunday celebratory service with the church choir, opera singers and members from the Cape Town symphonic orchestra. Desmond Tutu was the archbishop here and the congregation still worship in English, Xhosa and Afrikaans.

Walking through Cape Town it is difficult to miss the Cathedral, however parts were cut off due to scaffolding and repairs. Well worth a visit inside if just to cool down. Cafe in crypt is now a jazz club so did not go in for refreshments

This is a small church near Company's Garden. It is a stone church and inside you can appreciate beautiful glass.

A beautiful sanctuary in the heart of cape town and a quiet place for your devotions. Look for an opportunity to attend when the pipe organ is played.

St. George's Cathedral is in the centre of the old Cape Town. From outside the cathedral is not very impressive, but inside it is a beautiful church. We participated in the sung mass on a Sunday morning, and we felt the good experience to be part of a Christian community far away from our homeland. Their was a well singing... More

My wife and I visited this cathedral and thought it was dark and a strange mixture of modern and old. Outside it looked attractive; inside it looked rather austere. There were few informational notices. Although entrance was free, there is a suggested voluntary donation of ~R100-150 which we thought was a lot. Worth about a 30 minute visit maximum.

When your fee is tired from walking and exploring Cape Town, taken time out to explore this historical Christian landmark. Do not miss the statue of the African Madonna carved from Mahoe wood and given by the Tate London Gallery .
