This is a very good museum, housed in part in the oldest synagog in Capetown. It is very well presented with comprehensive explorations of the history of the jews and their immigration to South Africa. The Holocaust Memorial, located in the same complex is a moving, incredible presentation of a grim and deplorable time in our history.

We planned to spend about an hour here and then move on to one of the art museums. We used our whole afternoon here, exploring their beautiful synagogue and then moving on to learn about the Jews exodus to Shanghai that we never know about. Everything about this museum was first class. Not to be missed.

I high recommend a visit to this museum. The current special exhibit on Jews in Shanghai was particularly moving. The permanent exhibit are also very interesting.

We stumbled upon the museum by accident. It is tucked away in Town. Once we got inside, the kids and us were blown away. It was well organized and the information that one could read up on was amazing. We were taken on a tour of the Synogogue by a very friendly Jewish Gentleman and afterwards stopped at the little... We both wanted to visit the Jewish museum and walked a fair way from our hotel to reach it. We were met at reception with a security guard who was rude, impolite and aggressive - and demanded photo id. I can understand the reason behind this but there are ways of letting you know that this is needed and not... More

There are Jewish museums in many places. Not many combine their own history with the national history and world history so well. As was reported during apartheid they may have hounded us but they did not try to systematically kill us. The holocaust museum is outstanding...I just wish I did not feel that I had to "review" it. If you... More

We were disappointed with the Museum in it's entirety . The actual building is gorgeous and beautifully built in stone and marble, but the exhibitions were very disappointing. There are 2 books of arrivals of ships from the UK immigrants in thr 1800-1900's . But we came from Latvia Lithuania and there is no records of the immigrants that came... More

This was a profoundly moving experience the Holocaust Exhibition in particular. Being a child of the 60s and having been exposed during the post WWII years to the enormity of the crimes perpetrated against the Jewish people there was little that I wasn't already aware of, but to witness it without the desensitizing glare of the TV tube gave it...
