Less than 10 minutes to the CBD and the sea. Has the only world rated university in Africa and over 20 good schools. Lots of parks and a great Forrest and mountain. It is a more than adequate suburb to live in

Rondesbosch, Newlands, Claremont, Pinelands, Rosebank...one can go on...but these small enclaves have lovely houses and also individual village like shopping centres...of course Claremont houses a huge mall, but the surrounding streets hide much good architecture...worth a visit and if you are lucky enough to live there God bless you...

Southern Suburbs are not one entity but entire area with variety of attractions. We visited the Groote Schuur hospital and greatly enjoyed the museum commemorating the first human heart transplant by Dr Christiaan Barnard. Other stops and places of interest included Newlands Forest, Rhodes Memorial and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. Certainly plenty of areas for us to hike and enjoy... More

This is where I was born and spent the first 50 years of my life. The Southern Suburbs of Cape Town have very little to do with the sea and everything to do with tranquil forests, cricket and rugby. Newlands was my childhood home, from where we would walk to the famous cricket and rugby stadiums. Later years included many... More

From Gardens such as the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens to the Arderne Gardens in Claremont which is very popular for weddings, etc. to Zand Vlei, Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Simon's Town and Cape Point. It also has a range... More

We have lived here for 20 years and it is the best area for raising a family and you have the advantage of having everything of the best at your doorstep, the best schools, so much natural beauty with both the mountains and the sea right near all the tourist activities but in a safe environment and numerous outdoor activities... The perfect place to brunch, not a great Friday night party. The quality of food and particularly brunch options is vast!

The Southern suburbs of Cape Town includes Rondebosch, Newlands, Claremont, Wynberg, Ottery, Constantia, Bishopscourt and offer many gems i.e. the Kirstenbosch Gardens, Newlands forest, Constantia neck, Constantia wine farms, etc. Cavendish Square, a popular shopping centre is situated in Claremont; several lovely restaurants are in Newlands, Wynberg and Claremont.
