Very nice and different to the Clifton and Camps Bay beaches. The little houses are charming and if you are lucky you can use one for the day for you and your family or friends.

Loved visiting this famous beach and getting the pictures of the colorful beach huts. The setting with the mountains in the distance is beautiful! The beach is also great for shelling and lots of beach glass!! Charming!

During our full-day tour of the Cape Peninsula, I'm glad we stopped to walk down to St. James Beach. The old changing huts were as colorful as anticipated, especially so in the morning light when we visited. A great photo opp. And a good place to hang out and catch some sun when/if time permits.

A great beach to spend the day or the evening having sun downers watching as the sun sets. The tidal pool is a great attraction and during holiday times this beach is packed - otherwise it is generally not too full. It is one of the few beaches protected by the mountainside so is basically wind free making for enjoyable... More

A difficult beach to review as it has so many facets. A perfect place for families. If visitors are racist - avoid Christmas and New Year. Otherwise perfect. A wonderful, safe beach and pool enjoyed my countless generation. The village has never really been successful for restaurants etc although you may be lucky. Don't swim outside the pool unless you... St. James Beach is on the same line as Simon's Town which is the stop you get off for Boulder's Bay.

The little colorful houses are in all travel guide you can find for SA. Right there you also can catch the train to Simon's Town and enjoy the swimming pool with salt water in a hot summer day

Mostly wanted the famous photo here, but found the beach and area a fun walk. Lots of people and watching the waves here was worth the time. The people ( mostly family's ) were having a big time. I don't think I could feel safe in the outer water but the inner guarded pool looked safe enough for average swimmers.
