This is a must do for dare devil hikers. We climbed at dawn, about 6am and summited by 7:30am. Views are amazing and well worth the pain. If you're weaker or of a nervous position this isn't the hike for you. The last 15mins are verticals on ladders and chains.

Absolutely love the Lion's Head hiking trail and regularly hike there. You need to be at least moderately fit as it is quite steep. Take about 1.5 hours to the top. Great spot for a picnic at the top with breathtaking views. For security reasons, group walking is advised.

If you can climb the India Venster trail on Table Mountain, then Lion’s Head is easily doable. You do not need a guide to ascend it but it is steep and involves some scrambling to get to the top. We hiked up to the top to watch sunrise and it was worth it. Bring a flashlight and a light jacket... More

Been up there several times (for me the best time to start is at 05:30 am) - might be busy up there but at this time in the morning it is still cool enough in summer to climb the Lion's Head - later on it might become to hot... Even though it's only an hour up and another 50 minutes... More

Lions Head, Devils Peak or Table Mountain. It's vast, and the options are incredibly dynamic depending on the weather, your fitness and your keenness to either take a adventurous stroll, and an extreme single track trail run through the valley's and gorges that make up this amazing mountain range.

Lion's Head is one of the great honest experiences in life. It looks high and hard from a distance, and so it is, although perhaps a little easier and more accessible than it first seems. There are no frills and sideshows - it's a walk, steep in parts, winding round the hill, steep at first, easing off, then finally growing... More

We are a couple who have zero hiking experience but decided to take on the climb up the lion's head. We started at about 11:30 and there are a couple of ways to get up to the top. A few hundred meters up the slope on the right hand side there is a small, almost hidden pathway which looked to... More
