My family and I just had a delightful hike to the top of Lion's Head. My youngest is 11 but there were children much younger on the trail as well. The hike is difficult in parts with ladders, staples, and chains. However, that is all...More

We decided to hike our way up to the Lions Head, and it's something everyone visiting Cape Town should do. The way up is a bit steep, but easily done. At the end, there are some rocks, ladders and you have to put a little...More

I did this hike starting mid afternoon on a beautiful Friday. Not too long but steep at the top and a lot of scrambling up rocks - if you want graded trails there are some great views before that starts but you won't want to...More

fantastic views, any weather or time of day... Best time to see it is early morning when all the birds are flying around...winter time is actually not that cold. It's like you are in another world.

Lion's Head is my favorite walk and climb around Cape Town. If it's for fun, sport exercise or a couple's full moon twilight, you can always count on it to be magical!

Due to maintanance and windyness we have never - of our four! visits to Cape Town - been able to get up the Table Mountain. The Lion's Head however is a very beautiful alternative. The walk is great, a little climbing is necessary, and the...More

After a 50 minutes hike we arrived at the summit and enjoyed a wonderful panoramic view over the city and table moutain. Plan good walking shoes for the trail which is easy for the first 30 minutes but is rocky afterwards.

I would advise walking up with a friend, preferably not alone as there have been some small muggings at dark in the past. You should be more than fine though. It is a beautiful walk and would highly recommend it. A guide is... More

Hi The best option is to start at the parking area on Signal Hill road - access by car / taxi - the parking area is monitored and there are security patrols in the 'park' area which has trails that will take you to the base... More
