Hi, We went with the company "Meerkat Adventures" based at Oudtshoorn, South Africa. There is no hand feeding or touching. It is set up so you can observe wild animals going about their normal morning activities from a distance of about 10 metres. Just search Meerkat Adventures Oudtshoorn Cost was R600 per person plus guide tip. NOTE. This is a 'no Meerkat no pay' adventure so you pay at the end. NOTE you have to pay is CASH; there is no efpos is the fields. If you spend the night at De Zeekoe Guest farm you receive a R100 discount per person. The tour starts early; i.e. before the sun comes up. When you book the company will given you a rough time - for us is Sept it was 5:45am. You contact them the day before and they will provide a more exact time. They do this for two reasons. 1) the guides watch the animals the afternoon before to see which of their burrows spread over a few kilometres they decide to stay at, and 2) as animals they do not have a watch so are guided by sunrise and the heat of the sun. Although strange, the guides are attempting to limit the time you are sitting in a paddock with nothing to look at. The tour was completed around 8:30 -9:00. As we stayed at De Zeekoe they keep the breakfast bar open for your return. Overall, it was different, and a talking point of our holiday. But there is also nowhere else in the world that you can do it.
