The nature is absolutely stunning and the waterfall hike is easy even with young kids. There is a place to dip your feet in the cool stream - so nice (because otherwise there is not much protection from the sun). The gravel road is quiet bumpy but not "off road" like somebody wrote. No problem for a regular 2wd rental.

Nice scenery in the mountains and fun for mountain biking, but be prepared to drive a long distance on a very rocky road. Best for four-wheel drives. They are working on the road, so hopefully within a few month it will be easier to reach.

This is probably one of the best and most challenging MTB destinations on the Western Cape. It has routes from beginners to advance riders. It overs great views of Cape Town and will not fail to satisfy.

Go to the end of the road to a start your adventure just outside stellies! Lovely moderate walk to the absolutely stunning waterfall. Walk in to a microclimate of its own protected from the harsh African sun to a wet greet oasis. Lovely place to meditate and relax. Keep quiet and enjoy the lovely wildlife this are has to offer.... We visited the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve for the first time today, and thoroughly enjoyed it, even though the weather wasn't great. Hiking up to the two waterfalls, we enjoyed being out in nature and the wide variety of fynbos which was blooming all over the show. The waterfalls were nice, but personally I enjoyed the scenery more. I would have... More

We hiked the Panorama trail in November. It took us 6 hours and is quite strenuous, but the views are amazing! I wore shorts and got quite a few scratches from the bushes on the trail so better to wear pants. Very windy on top and the route down to the waterfalls is stoney so need to take your time,... More

Reserve is great but avoid the municipal run picnic spot a few km's before the entrance. Nice picnic facility spoilt by loud music and lots of intoxicated people.

I took an uber a few km to a bike rental place called Bike In that has really nice Specialize bikes, quick bike ride up the road past a few vineyards and pay 50 Rand to get in to really good single track. Jeep roads up for easy access to great single track. Cross bike would be good too bike... More

The guidebooks are not clear about this hidden treasure. We were there in August and the was so beautiful with rushing rivers, waterfalls and absolutely stunning hikes. It is well worth spending the whole day there! In fact one should come to Stellenbosch just for Jonkerhoek. We saw lots of people running, biking and just enjoying the beauty!
