The houses and buildings around Dorp street are beautiful and I would expect not much changed over the years. It was nice to chill out on a very hot day have a coffee and just watch the world roll past. Had a great chat with one of the parking attendants and got some good tips on places to go and... More

Thus quaint st is lined with oaks and contains a collection of some of South Africa's oldest buildings. The western end contains beautiful Cape Dutch architecture including an old seminary, gaol and Dutch Reformed Church manse. The church itself is a masterpiece of elegance and simplicity in the Cape Dutch style. The subdued colours of the buildings mainly white and... More

The old quarter of Stellenbosch should not be missed. The second oldest (Western) town in SA. Varied architecture & so much history.

When we first came to Stellenbosch (4 years ago) we thought that Dorp Street was lovely during the day but a bit forbidding at night, but actually there are always people around and Stellenbosch seems quite a safe place. Very interesting old Dutch architecture.

One of those "Tourist Streets" with restaurants, cafes, curio shops, galleries. Good for a stroll, a meal or just a glass of wine. In the evening the Restaurants serve as congregation Points and watering holes (or rather wine holes) for the numerous students of Stellenbosch University that seem to spend more time partying than studying.
