And of course the actual lighthouse. Many people think that Faro means lighthouse and would arrive in Faro looking for one. In fact, the word for lighthouse in portuguese is Farol, hence the lighthouse on the island. The locals are really honest and direct fishermen...More

One hour wait time. Cold food. Very uniteresting food. Only two fish dishes. Really a joke of a restaurant.

A nice beach and few restaurants and bars. It is quite exposed to the ocean and over the swamp in Olhao.

The ferry from Olhao take you to different islands, and after trying them all, Farol is by far my favourite. The main reason is that the walk from the ferry to the beach is short - on the other islands it might take 15-30 minutes...More

The ferry goes from the harbour - past the fish market. You can get a water taxi from the Real Marina - €30 approx
