The church itself is actually a one-room cave. While not large, it is impressive to stand in a space that was used by early Christians almost 2000 years ago and is specifically mentioned in the Bible. There are tunnels that lead out of the back...More

Although its importance for the history of religions, this ancient church caved into mountain is a small place to visit. You can visit just to witness to a part of history but entree fee is high for this short visit.

Unusually for Turkey this ancient site is not really worth the entrance fee unless you are very religious. There is not much to see and very little information provided. If I was pressed for time I would not bother with this one.

I visited this place twice in 2 city trips to Antakya. The church is good, around the church should be cleaner. Walking there from the city in a good weather was awesome if you like city walks. It has a nice city view too.

The old stone church is a really beautiful building, apparently the first Christian church built, it goes right into the rock face and really does make goose bumps !!!!
