A "Pay What You Want" tour, Buenos Aires Local Tours, is a great introduction to the past and present of Buenos Aires. You'll travel by public bus, subway and foot to see the Buenos Aires most tourists miss. Visiting Abasto, Congreso and Plaza de Mayo and it's the perfect way to get to know the city as a local does. Run by English & American expats, there are regular group "Pay What You Want" tours, and a private custom tour service is also available if you would like to visit other areas such as Recoleta (& the cemetery), La Boca or San Telmo.

Our tour with Ceri Foster of Buenos Aires Local Tours was absolutely excellent. He arrived punctually at our hotel, communicated well and had a genuine concern that we enjoy our day. We saw most of the major highlights of Buenos Aires at our own pace, Ceri's commentary was both informative and priceless. We went places tourists typically see and then... More

The tours are awesome, let's face it I can't write a better review but what I want to really express here is the communication. Literally within half and hour of writing I received an answer and over several conversations these guys were able to present me with options for my time frame and my taste in tours. Penelope with whom... More

This was a wonderful tour and a great way to get acclimated to Buenos Aires. As someone who was brand new to South America and coming from the US, I was excited to see the city but had read things that worried me ('blue dollar' exchanges, fake money, pickpockets, etc). When we took the tour with Ceri, he put those... More

Took the local tour with Ceri. We definitely got our money's worth. Ceri was very knowledgable about Buenos Aires. He took us on the subway and showed us how it worked. He gave us hints for sightseeing in Buenos Aires. We covered a lot of ground in one morning. Ceri was very enthusiastic and made the tour fun and enjoyable.... More

Alex gave us a wonderful full day tour of Buenos Aires. We zipped around town and he could tell our interests were history, culture and architecture. He knew it all. He organized it. He pickup us up at the ship and got us to the airport. Thanks Alex.

Referred to us by our host at our B & B. Patrick took us on a city tour, a trip to Tigre, and airport transfer. He is knowledgeable and fun to tour with. He knows the in's and out's of the city and navigates the crazy traffic! We appreciated that his english was great and we learnt so much. We... More

I went on the “Pay What You Want” Walking and Public Transport tour with Ceri, this past November and it was a very worthwhile experience. There were only 6 of us on the tour and we met Ceri at Puerto Rico Cafe in the city center. While we had a bite to eat Ceri gave us all sorts of useful... More

This is the second time in a year that I've done the morning microcenter tour with Ceri, and it didn't disappoint. You can expect a friendly, funny, and knowledgeable tour guide who will show you around and give you advice on money exchange, restaurants, and tango places, as well empart his knowledge on the important historical events of the country.... We reserved via email and the rendezvous was a little cafe just off plaza de mayo. There were only 7 of us on the tour which was a nice change from other free tours. We spent some time in the cafe talking to the guide and each other and asking questions. We then sauntered around the city taking in some... More

Staying in Palermo

Neighbourhood Profile
Best known as the largest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favourite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.
