We took a local bus from the bus station (you need to check the times) & had little expectation of Poterillos but was pleasantly surprised. We didn't actually go to the dam exactly but could see it as we spent the afternoon walking around the lake and town. Wonderful part of the country, just be aware that there isn't much... More

We are far from any beach here, so the summer weekend crowd takes the obvious route to Potrerillos. In early evening (or if a rare rain starts), the road back to Mendoza will quickly become congested. It's still spectacular scenery worth a little inconvenience. Been there twice!

Beautiful view on the way to the Aconcagua. This lake and the history of its mushrooms, also the path of Mendoza river. I recommend.

Nice easy trip from Mendoza. You can take a bus from the main terminal, for around an hour for 4 euros each way or so. The lake is very pretty and it's a nice spot to sit around and have a few drinks. You cannot swim in the water, but many people bring kayaks or windsurfers. The best part is... More

This was a beautiful and easy day trip. You can take a bus round trip from the terminal in Mendoza for 60 pesos for a day by the water. The bus ride itself is pretty, and then you get to the lake with the mountains in the background and it's just incredible. When you get off of the bus in... More

We spent a lovely afternoon with a sailboat from Huayra Veleros on the water. Great contrast from all of the traditional wine scapes. Great for the kids.

The scenery is absolutely gorgeous in Potrerillos and the water is an unreal color of blue-green. For best views, go when there is still snow on the distant mountains (July'August). Not a ton of options for food, but there are a few bodegas close by. Watch for el Zonda (very strong, hot, northerly wind) if you are walking though, it... More
