This "experience" seems like a good idea, floating on an inner tube down a cool river. Well, after reading several stories of people getting drunk and peeing and pooing in the river, and several getting diseases, and it being closed down, I thought it best not to bother going.

This can be fun but you dont want to go when the dam is releasing anything under 1000 cubic feet per second. At less than 1000 cfs the chance of tailbone contact with rocks is too likely. Check at USGS 09502000 SALT RIVER BLW STEWART MOUNTAIN DAM, AZ.

Man, there is no place more both relaxing and exhilarating at the same time than a lazy afternoon tube float down the Salt River. Vast blue skies overhead, cool, soothing water refreshing your body from the warming, dry Arizona air...and unmatched mountainous views to round-out this favorite local excursion getaway! Let all of your problems and stresses ebb away as... More

We all enjoyed this and can't wait to go back. The water is cold even in the summer but the sun is scorching even with sunscreen and shirts. We did see a snake in the river and lots of drunk stoners but didn't mind. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking!

I took my daughter and a group of her friends during the week to tube. It was relatively quiet (Wednesday in July) but the girls had a blast! We revisited on the weekend and there were many more people but just as enjoyable. Everyone tubing is ready to have a great time, get some sun and enjoy!

I actually haven't been "tubing" in a long time. It hot, the water is dirty, its crowded, the cops really ruin all the good fun and people end up being jerks and making it bad. It can be fun if you're drunk and a lover of the sun. But, be aware that people get into trouble as the cops have... More

Going tubing down the Salt River is one of my family and friends favorite summer activities! We ended up purchasing our own tubes after a season for cost saving. The river is a slow and steady pace that is great for just laying back and soaking in the sun. Be prepared to bring sunscreen, water and food depending on the... More

If you want to enjoy mother Nature's beauty, see wild horse's, get a tan or maybe a sunburn if not prepared this is the place. Tie some coolers together with refreshments! But first rent some tubes and bus ride to the Salt River with your family or friends and enjoy a casual float trip down the river! Feel like Huck Finn... More

The secret to tubing is have 2 vehicles. Park on at the Salt River Tubing office parking lot. Take the 2nd vehicle on up the river to a starting place you would like (several along the river with parking lots)..Go early in the morning (6:00am),,the river is vacant so it's quiet & peaceful..you will see wildlife doing it this way..especially...
