Interesting and well organized little museum on the Plaza 9 de Julio. The museum features 3 mummified bodies (2 on display when we visited) of children who had been sacrificed in Inca times and their bodies buried and preserved on the top of a mountain....More

We enjoyed this unusual museum, which is basically designed around the three mummies retrieved from the high Andes. The display by definition is limited but well worth the visit. You cannot go backwards and so don't forget to linger at the final exhibit.

Lots of history to see as well as the famous child mummies. A well told story. The price has gone up to $130

This is beautifully and sensitively designed, it is more like a shrine to the three mummified children than a traditional exhibition. I would put this at the top of any visit to Salta

Small but mighty - this is a must see in Salta right on the main square. The musuem is well laid out and really tells the story. This is not a long visit but a very informative one.

This museum tucked away in the main square houses mummies that are remarkably well preserved. The museum is quite small but well presented and described in English as well as Spanish. A must see while in Salta.

I'd been wanting to visit this museum for ages and was not disappointed. Although there was not a large amount on display, quality was evident over quantity. Pieces were well laid out and there was a lot of interpretive information. Seeing one of the three...More
