Bahia Bustamante is a seaside lodge surrounded by 360° of wild nature, located in Patagonia, in an area characterized by its relevant biological biodiversity. Only a few places in the world house such an amount and diversity of seabirds and marine mammals, which is why it has been included in the National Park "Patagonia Austral".

Remote and exclusive, with the philosophy of sustainability and preserving the natural habitat, it is ideal for nature lovers. Activities include bird (penguins and more) and sea lion watching, visit to the petrified forest, to the seaweed industry, and to a typical Patagonian ranch with more than 20.000 sheep (where holistic management is applied, aiming to restore Patagonia grasslands) panoramic trekkings, horseback riding and mountain bike. Relaxing and enjoying the most exclusive sandy beaches and crystal-clear water, surrounded by huge red rocks is also possible.

It is important for you to know that in Bahia Bustamante we want to preserve the essence of the place and maintain a balance with nature. The old houses which used to belong to the first inhabitants were renovated to receive guests, always taking into account the austerity and simplicity which characterized lifestyle here from the beginning; thus keeping alive the spirit of those who arrived to these lands over 50 years ago.

In Bahia Bustamante luxury is the chance to enjoy the vastness of nature which surrounds us. The aim of the experience is to connect with nature and with the authenticity of the village and its inhabitants.

This small town is a unique, peaceful coastal paradise in Patagonia. It has pristine beaches (cold to swimm but just perfect to relax), traditional sheep ranch and incredible marine life including penguins, whales and sea lions, as well as hundreds of species of birds. The town, about 40 people inhabitants, lives today of tourism and seaweed production. I really think... More

The NY Times article compelled us to add Bahia Bustamante to a spring whale watching trip in Patagonia. It was early Spring so we knew the weather would be iffy and we were not surprised that it was cold, rainy and windy. What we did not expect was the lack of sufficient heat in the very expensive cabins and common... More

I read the Times review eighteen months ago and was bitten. We visited Oct 2012 and my observations follow: 1. Information provided: thorough and accurate briefings. Helpful office staff. 2. Accommodation:rustic, but comfortable and high quality touches. You are better off with the seaview cottages. 3. Food: service great, selection limited, good wine. 4. Guides: excellent. Tibor is knowledgeable and enthusiastic,... More

We had the time of our lives. Fantastic! Matias, the owner, met us upon arriving, asked us what we needed, and never did we need to ask for anything. Whenever we suggested what we would like, the request was met with a positive response. The setting is majestic, and the accommodations match. Luxurious beds. Our guide, Adrian, spoke beautiful English... More

Bahaia Bustamente – hop the bus going south out of Trelew and get off at Garyalde: there in the middle of nowhere, a car from the estancia can pick you up and take you another 57 km to the seaweed farm and sheep ranch by the sea. Written up by the NY Times and hence popular with Americans now this... More

This is the perfect rustic getaway for those travelers who want to experience beautiful nature and scenery. The cabins are comfortable, they come with kitchens so that you can cook your own food if you wish to (just remember to buy the food prior to coming to BB as there are no shops). We opted for the 'meals included' stay,... More

Only an hour and a half or so south of Trelew but truly worlds away in environment, this secluded gem on the Atlantic is an absolutely wonderful, relaxing getaway. Many things to do and see-Petrified forest, penguins, horseback riding, biking, sailing and kayaking. Congenial hosts and amiable guides provide a very special experience situated on grounds just meters away from... More

Bahia Bustamante is one of the most magical place we visited in Patagonia. We biked along miles of coastline gravel roads, saw huge colonies of protected penguins and sea lions, and slept magnificently in one of the well appointed yet rustic cabins at "Seaweed Village." Matias, the owner, and everyone on the terrific staff shared their love of the land,... More

Bahia Bustamante surprised me in a fabulous way! Its a new and very special destination.
