If you want to see penguins up close and personal then go no further than Estancia San Lorenzo. The penguins were very curious and comfortable in human company and many would walk right up to you. The ranger told us the colony had 600,000 penguins...More

We visited San Lorenzo in late November and saw incredible penguin action. From the very large number of burrows and penguins making their way to and from the sea (with thousands lined up on the shoreline) to many healthy chirping chicks (and some not so...More

Amazing, penquins, penquins! Get there early, as the day progresses there can be many large tour buses. We hired a private driver who met us at the cruise ship dock. We had the beach and penquins pretty much to ourselves for over an hour. It...More

This was an extraordinary experience. Easily the highlight of many days on a Cruise. The penguins were all over the roads, beaches and hiding (sort of) in their burrows. I found it interesting that the burrows were originally off the path but now as time...More

Though it is a long drive from Puerto Madryn to arrive at the Estancia, it is a visit that is so unique and a vision that is truly memorable. Where else can you walk among hundreds of penguins and see them close up in a...More

Visited when (Megallinic) legions were nesting (incubating egg(s)) so most were pretty still in their burrows/holes in the dunes with very few moving around. Having said that, this was still fascinating especially if you haven't seen pensions in natural setting before. There is a marked...More

This was one of the very few shore excursions we opted to do through the cruise line. And it was a winner! The worst part was the bus ride to and from the ship. But our driver was absolutely fantastic at finding wildlife along the...More

I would use Patagonia del Sol/Huinca Travel (they are owned by the same people) and if possible ask for Sebastian or Mary as the guide. We had Sebastian who was incredible, but also have read that Mary is very good.
