Amazing experience. You will see them very close. Before go check the tide times, the whales only come close at high tide time, usually at the end of the day. If you like to photograph (like me), 200m equivalent will delivery great pictures.

Not far from Puerto Madryn city this beach is the best whale watching place besides Puerto Pirámides in the peninsula. You will watch whales as close as 50 feet (15 meters) away from the shore. A must see half day trip.

It is about an hour and a half to 2 hours on a bike. Walking is not really an option. I would take the Peninsula tour and check with the local guides if the whale watching is worth it this time of year.

the best option is to rent a car, but you can hire a 'remis' (like a cab or uber service) to take you there..
