You will see this lake when out and about around El Califate and we were able to see part of it from our hotel. It is huge - the largest lake in Argentina and very beautiful.

Simple beautiful! Also make sure to visit nearby Laguna Nimez. A ticket is 150 pesos, you can come back several days with the same ticket.

From our hotel we looked out on a tiny section of the lake where swans, ducks and flamingo swim. Some places near the shore in town look a bit 'scummy' but overall it is an impressive body of water with several different branches in the west towards the mountains.

Locals take care of this lake, which is their national treasure, and we should take a tip from their awareness of protecting the environment. If done on a global scale, our planet would be better. saw lots of birds, flamingoes and farm animals walking alongside beach. Stray dogs are everywhere.

We spent a lovely few days walking around the lake, enjoying the varieties of birds and views of mountains. The lake colours are amazing and the direction of the breezes influences the colour effects of the lake. It was excellent!

Hire a car and drive around it to get the different views, especially away from the town. There's not many view pull ins so take care road side

The Argentinian Lake is a big piece of water, where depending the sun and where you are you can see different colors. You will see it the whole time during your stay at El Calafate.

One passes this lake whenever taking most tours. Our hotel was in-town, thus no viewing of the lake. There are a few hotels within a mile of town with great views. But, would be a good walk to town, where all restaurants/shops are located.
