Avoid the aquarium! Zoo is great

We visited the zoo on the right side of the road and the aquarium on the left. I'm not sure why they are the same listing on trip advisor because it's not fair to the zoo. I... read more

On vacation in Banos for two weeks. We decided to go to the zoo. WOW and double WOW is all I can say. This zoo has the most breathtaking views high up in the mountain tops. It is not wheel chair friendly but is for a nice moderate active walk. It is steep in some places but worth the exercise.... More

The Baños Zoo houses the number of species of animals that are found in the diverse terrain of the Orient and Sierra regions of Ecuador. The zoo is located at the base of the Tungurahua Volcano and some of the main enclosures have been built on the volcano's slopes, using the ridges and contours to create habitats as close to... We hired a guide for $5.00 to take us through the zoo. Very limited amount of animals. Should not be on your list, if you are short on time. If you have visited any big zoos in the states, you will be disappointed.

There are many animals that also exist in the wild in Ecuador but are endangered. Educational trip. Zoo needs a little maintenance.

Small zoo good to spend 1 hour with species you don't see in European zoo's. When coming out of the zoo walk a few hunderd meters between the big rocks in front to see people who risk their lives flying/ hanging on a cabble.

We visited the zoo on the right side of the road and the aquarium on the left. I'm not sure why they are the same listing on trip advisor because it's not fair to the zoo. I actually enjoyed this zoo very much. The cages were clean, animals looked fairly healthy and I had the chance to see a lot... More

Most major Zoos now have been redesigned so that the animals are given more space and kept in an area reflecting their natural habitat. Not the case here. A very large lion is kept in an area much too small for an animal so large. Large snakes in small, dirty aquariums. Would be better to have one very large Zoo... More
