Spring Break ride with 4 adults and 8 kids on a 2 hour morning ride. The kids ranged from age 7-16 and the staff were great with each of them, letting them help saddle the horses, introducing them to their horses and memorizing the kids' names. Our guide, Cactus Jack, kept us very entertained. It was the first time riding... More

Ponderosa Stables was professional, friendly, and a fun experience for the whole family. The horses were well trained and very good with the kids. I felt comfortable and safe the entire time. When I read that the website allowed young kids to ride with adults I wasn't too sure how the kids would do but they did great and the... More

We booked a Pot a Gold sister stable in Flagstaff. Save your money. Their corporate office is rude and fraudulent. We booked a ride for our teenage daughters. When we arrived no-one was around. Walking the property, we noticed someone on a tractor in a back field. We walked to the field to observe him stuck in the mud. His... More

This would be brilliant for first time or inexperienced riders who are happy to just sit on a horse during a slow, nose-to-tail ride. Does not offer much for the more experienced rider as no trotting, cantering or free control of your horse is offered. However, lots of beautiful scenery and landscape. Great guides and horses.

Decided to take two rides on different days. The first one was an evening ride for one hour. You are back before sunset. It's a short but nice nose-to-tail ride on well maintained horses. A pack of coyotes were howling in the distance. I was told the Stables have 101 horses. The feed is green and grown by the owners... More

We booked the TBone dinner ride - when we got there. We noticed several horses in front for the ride. The horses are filthy and dont seem to be taken care of well, some seemed nathargeic. a few of the horses seems very scared during the ride. MO MO and Donny seemed very nervous. Felt horrible. Would not book her... More

We had family in town from out-of-state and wanted to share a great Arizona experience with them. So we went horseback riding at South Mountain Stables. It was so easy. Called and made reservations. It's very affordable. The ride is about an hour long on gentle paths through South Mountain Park. The horses are very mellow and easy to ride... More

My girlfriend and I chose to do the steak dinner sunset ride. The horses were all pretty amazing and the wrangler was a blast. We rode the end of Feb, so sunset was pretty early. The sunset was spectacular - full of cacti along the ridge - and our view of the city in lights was beautiful. However; most of... More

Staff was amazing and made kids feel comfortable with riding a horse for the first time. Horses were well trained and great with the kids! Trail ride included some fun facts that the kids are still talking about!

I called the morning of to see if they had any available tours for 2 adults and 5 kids the ages of 2-9yr old. We were so lucky that they did because my kiddos absolutely loved every second of the tour. Most of the kids with us have never rode a horse before and they did awesome accommodating us! I... More
