This is a great hike. I chose the Challa trail and made it to the top with my 13 year old son. Its a surprisingly vigorous hike. Bring lots of water. If you are not fit there is little chance of making up to the top. It requires quite a bit of stamina and dexterity. But you can go a... More

Bring more water then you think you will need. Pace yourself especially early and bringing a pair of light gloves can save your nails. Once at the top the view is SPECTACULAR!!

Almost decided against hiking today due to extreme lack of parking. But we had driven all across Phoenix to do it so parked 1.5 miles away from the Echo parking lot (that was full and blocked off). Then we took off up steep grades and over monster boulders to push ourselves to the top of this demanding mountain. We stopped... More

Me and my wife loved this hike. First half was nice and gradual, then last part got a little scary when you have to actually do some climbing. Great views from the top!

I think I am in pretty good shape, but I wasn't prepared, or I was having a bad day I guess. I had to turn around and then try again two days later to get to the top. I loved the hike! It was just one part that was giving me heart palpitations!! Great views, and makes you feel good... More

Camelback Mountain sits like the animal it resembles in the middle og Phoenix. It's difficult to climb and hard to park near trailheads, but if you're fit, you can do it. The views of mountains near and far, its unique vegetation, and the mountain itself offer hours of pleasure. Make sure you wear proper footwear, carry lots of water, and... More

This hike is physically demanding but worth every bead of sweat. Enjoyed the climb up and down, be sure to bring gloves and comfortable walking/hiking shoes. The parking area is very small so you either have to be early or come later in the day. I choose the early morning as I wanted to view the sunrise over phoenix. Again,... More

This is in my backyard, and there is not a day that goes by when I am not in awe of this mountain. It rises out of the desert, ever changing as the light changes, with "the praying monk" on the west end. It is dramatic, and has beautiful hiking trails. If you are hiking, please come prepared with water,... More

Went up the Eastside. Hell of a hike and worth the effort. Not for faint of trail. Amazing views of the whole valley and a good chance to get a lay of the land. Wear good hikers or at least grippy trail shoes.
