It was difficult to get a reservation. only once was I able to contact them and that was a lucky phone connection. After the initial contact, which I did make a reservation, I was not able to make contact with anyone associated with the organization and they never returned the many messages I left both by email and phone. The... More

Wandered up Mount Graham on an early spring weekend. It's an hour & 45 minutes to Riggs Lake. We were surprised by this small jewel of a mountain lake. Crystal clear water, clean air & snow flurries! It's an easy walk around the shore path & many more hikes in the area. This is a gem.

I have traveled to Mount Graham twice within the last year. Both trips have been amazing. We stayed once at Roper Lake, and another was just a quick daytrip. We STILL have yet to do the Observatory! Mount Graham is a very place I could spend day at. The views are breathtaking, the air is crisp here and we have... More

This is a must see trip. It is an all day tour to go see the observatory. You will go to Discovery Park for a brief orientation, then you will load up in a van and get a guided tour up Mt. Graham. There is a trained, volunteer guide that will tell you all about the mountain and the history... More

It was a beautiful trip up Mt. Graham. It was a neat experience to see the telescope. Our whole family learned a lot. The tour guides were entertaining and very informative. When we got up there we got to have a tour from some of the scientist studying the stars. They opened the telescopes and we had a beautiful view.... More

What a great 20 mile climb up the mountain. Beautiful views. Prepare for cold at the top and tough descent with some hairpin turns.

As other reviewers have stated, it is well worth the drive. You drive 35 miles, 12 miles on maintained gravel road to get to Riggs lake. A crystal clear body of water over 9,000 ft up. Fishing was excellent. The old growth pine around the lake and upon the drive are massive in size. Some of these trees must be... More

My family and I drove up Mount Graham last weekend, not to view the telescope, but just to see what it had to offer. It was a winding road from the bottom to the top and took about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to Riggs Lake, but it was well worth it. Beautiful scenery with waterfalls along the... More

Mt graham is a hidden gem. A five hour drive from Phoenix but well worth it. In the 1.5 hours it take to get from the base to the top the temperature dropped 30 degrees. Beautiful views great campgrounds and great price sites. Our family has five dogs so we try to stay out of the campgrounds. One location on... More
