Very Unique Construction
Oct 2021
This Chapel is of the Roman Catholic faith, and built right into the buttes of the red rocks. It’s simple, but masterful construction literally makes it look like it is rising right out of the rocks. The walls are made out of concrete, and the Main Iron Cross is 90 feet tall. At first glance the Chapel looks small, but seats about 150 people. We felt peaceful sitting there for a little while, because all the people around us were quiet and respectful.

Parking at the bottom of the hill can get tricky. We lucked out, and then made the fairly steep hike up to the Chapel. Take it slow and enjoy the surroundings.

The sweeping views from the Chapel grounds are majestic and marvelous. There are also a lot of photo-ops for many beautiful photos.

One suggestion: Drive slowly as you are exiting the parking lot, and look up at the Chapel to get the full impact of the uniqueness of the architecture. I was not the driver, so I was able to get some good shots.

Worth a visit.

Amazing church

Beautiful surroundings and a beautiful church. Little bit of a steep hike if you park down at the bottom, but you can drive right up to the entrance almost. Smaller inside than I thought it would be

Curious and Stately Chapel

A very busy site -and easily accessed- so busy though -but I was pleased to see the number of folks wanting to see a Catholic Chapel...so simple but stately and special. But- there should be a person managing the amount of people entering and going...

Nice to visit once
Nov 2021
Was recommended to us to visit while in Sedona so took a trip up there shortly after it opened on a Thursday morning. Parking wasn't too bad when we got there, they had golf carts so that you can take them up the hill if you didn't want to walk the 1/4 mile incline from the lower parking spots. The views from the Chapel are gorgeous, and inside was smaller than expected but tranquil. We lit a couple of vigil candles and reflected for a little. Unless you're into religious collectibles, the gift shop wouldn't be of much interest. Once we were leaving, the parking was packed, we're happy we went as early as we did. Worth a visit once if you've never been.

Beautiful but not worth the hassle

I’m glad we went we only had a day in Sedona and there were some other places I wish we had visited instead. It’s beautiful but I think you can fully appreciate by driving by and not getting out and going inside. Parking was a complete nightmare. There’s a gift shop downstairs so I felt like we walked in, spent a minute or two sitting in the pews then walking down to the gift shop where they sold postcards, rosary beads, etc.

So, so - could have skipped
Nov 2021
Beautiful view, but unimpressive building, other than it being built into the rocks. My first comment was, "this is it???" We didn't have issues with parking or crowds. I would say skip unless you're looking for a good view.

Beautiful and simple chapel

This chapel is beautifully carved into the mountains. Very peaceful place to pray. They have mass every day. The parking is tight and limited. Good time to go is when it first opens at 9:00.

Yet ANOTHER Fodor’s boner. First….good luck finding a parking spot even after several circles around in the small lots. Once you have wasted enough time finding one, enjoy the crowded walk up the stairway/walkway. So you have made it! Well, enjoy the meh inside which is dark and mostly candles. But the view, Patrick! The view!! Yes. It is good but there are MANY places where you can get a good view in Sedona. Sorry but this so called “church” is nothing more than bad 50’s architecture that ruins a beautiful rock formation and WILL be a waste of time to some and an aggravation to many. Govern accordingly.
