At 75 and my knees not in great shape, it took a little effort to make the climb--- about 1/2 mile if I had to guess. There are cables to use in the steeper parts. My wife loved it and I did it for her....More

Make sure the airport mesa is one of your first stops in Sedona if you haven't been to a vortex. Ample parking and space, restrooms, great view of the red rocks and easy trail.

Panoramic views of Sedona. There's permitted parking, so bring your cameras... Sedona sits in a valley surrounded by mountains. Airport Mesa is in the middle and supports private planes: small jets, props, helicopters... The views to the North are the best you can see of...More

An opportunity presented itself to walk on the vortex trail right after a thunder storm. While climbing the hill the lightening started again. It was beautiful and for the most part in the distance. As the dusk began to settle the sunset views were more...More

Short hike up to see amazing 360 views of Sedona. Great picture opportunities. Is also vortex site. Many people hiking up to vortex to chant and mediate so be respectful of noise level. Always a stop when we're in Sedona.

Disappointed to see the $3 parking fee at the top of the mesa with its grand overlook. The parking spaces for the mesa itself is extremely limited and very popular on weekends. However, for your photography needs, these are 2 great places to enjoy the...More

The Airport Mesa is an evening trip to see the sunset. There are a number of excellent sunset vistas and this is one. End one day here.

This was our first stop at Sedona! It is a must do. Unknowingly, we arrived at sunset. It is the best time to view the Airport Mesa. On our way up to the Northern view of the Sedona rock we passed a very limited free...More

We visited about 5PM, and enjoyed a spectacular view over all of Sedona. You can pay $3 for parking, and enjoy the vista without having to climb rocks or compete with dozens of other visitors. There is free parking along the road climbing up to...More

The vortex parking lot is right by the vortex. You simply walk up a hill, about 100 ft high. Easy. The airport parking lot is about 1/4 mile up hill on the road from the vortex parking lot. There is a trail that leads down... More

There is one corner about 1/2 way up which would be a little tight if the traffic is heavy . It is next to the trail head., Which tends to get crowded.
