We drove up to Airport Mesa early in the morning to watch the sunrise. It's a popular spot and was very crowded once we arrived. If you don't mind crowds it is a great place to take in the view and watch the sunrise.

Very nice, airy, amazing lookout, airport loop hiking trail of about 3.5 miles, easy in terms of difficulty - very close (0.5 miles) to the Best Western Plus Inn of Sedona village near Tamaliza restaurant.

The views from this place are exceptional, but it is really quite busy. It is not the place to enjoy a peaceful sunset. There are throngs of others and you're almost shoulder to shoulder. note: helpful to bring a tripod.
