If you are heading north on 17 towards Flagstaff, you really need to jump off and take this route. As you get close to Sedona there are several pull off areas for viewing the beautiful sites. Parking is free. Sometimes there are public restrooms.

This is a beautiful road that offers several good viewpoint stops along its way. You can see Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock and the Chapel of The Holy Cross, amongst other. Try to get there early, as it gets crowded closer to lunch time.

Extraordinarily beautiful natural wonders of the world...the mountains and cliffs change with the time of day so it's a must to view from Airport Drive overlook, chapel of the holy cross and places like The Hudson restaurant!!

My husband and I enjoyed the drive along this route! The sites to see were absolutely wonderful to see. I took a million photos and videos! So much to see! We pulled over a few times to just stare at the beauty of it all!

Just driving through this region is awesome. The beautiful & unique vistas are amazing. It's hard for the driver to keep eyes on the road.

If you are in the area you can’t miss this. Take a slow drive and stop off to do one of the trails or just stand in wonderment at the scale and beauty. Having been at the Grand Canyon yesterday, this is right up there.

Well I went up 89 and I'm sorry I didn't go up 179. If I had known the difference then, I would have chosen 179. I would have had more awe seeing Sedona for the first time going north on 179 rather than when I was leaving... More

For sure. It's a well paved highway and very well maintained. Take the roundabouts slow through. They might be a tad tight.
