New monastery in Spiti
Jul 2018 • Friends
This is a new monastery, with latest paintings and sculptures. We were amazed to see the art work in this holy place. The kids around the monastery are really great, we had lot of fun with them.

Kungri monastery in Pin Valley
Oct 2018 • Couples
Amidst awesome natural beauty, this monastery is a must watch attraction of Pin valley. It is located around 10 km from Attargo on Tabo-Kaza Road and 3 km from Gulling- a small village in Pin Valley. Views of snow capped peaks and Pin river from the monastery is truly unforgettable. The main hall of the monastery is very well decorated with colorful frescoes and paintings. The natural beauty of the entire route from Attargo to this monastery is spectacular. Although a bus runs daily from Kaza to Mud village in Pin Valley, it would be wise to visit this place by private vehicle. We visited this place while going to Kaza from Dhankar.

A quiet place of worship that has been renovated with Dalai Lama's help. The old temple has all the old world charm and prayers are majestic.

The interior of this monastery has variegated colorful silk paintings of Buddhist deities on the walls, huge statues, religious texts and ancient wardrobe. The monastery consists of three east facing detached blocks. There is a picturesque backdrop beside the wonderful monastery.

A wonderful experience
Jun 2017 • Couples
To reach the Kungri Monstery, you need to take a left turn after crossing Dhankar Monastery (if you come from Tabo side) and drive towards Pin Valley keeping Pin river on your left. After crossing a small village Gulling, you have to take a right turn to reach Kungri Monstery, which is worth visiting. The young monks are very enthusiatic there and accompanied us while visiting the monastrey. As mentioned there, it ws built in 1330 and has a very long history.

However, there was a section in the monastery, where women were not allowed; only men were allowed, which disappointed us a bit.

Largely renovated, now in fresh painted colours inside.

This monastry in the Pin Valley lies between the small villages of Attargo (9 km) and Gulling (3 km). On the doorsteps of the outer building they were still busy painting the snow lions and renewing the pavement, but the inside temple was fully restored.
Here we were guided by a 13 year monk, who enthousiastically showed us around. In this temple, which design dates from the year 1330, and is of one of the oldest Buddhism sects, we were free to make pictures.

A wonderland in Pin Valley
Aug 2015 • Friends
Kungri Gompa..at Pin valley..a must visit..the understand the old influence of Buiddhism here and rejuvinating lives of the Monks here..

Kungri gompa is located around 10 km from Attargo and 3 km from Gulling in Pin Valley. Attargo itself is located around 12 km from the subdivisional district headquarter of Spiti. The river Spiti has to be crossed in order to reach the Pin Valley, most of which has been declared a National Park.

The gompa does not merely holds the distinction of being the second oldest one in the Spiti valley, rather it also happens to be the only gompa following the Nyingmapa Buddhism in the valley. Nyingmapa is the oldest order of Tibetan Buddhism.

The Kungri gompa was erected in the first half of the 14th century, around 1330 and consists of three separate rectangular blocks, all of which stand facing the eastern direction. Recently, Kungri gompa ganied a lot of attention because of the foreign aid it received for its renovation work. However, despite renovation work, the gompa provides the strong impact of the tantric cult that held sway over the Pin valley in the bygone era.
