A 45 minute boat ride from Drakes Bay lands you at diving and snorkeling Mecca, Isla de Cano. Whales and dolphins will likely make guest appearances to the regular spectacular show of sea turtles, rainbow-colored fish and the occasional shark and ray.

We went on a snorkeling tour. Lots of colorful fishes, warm water and beautiful surroundings. On the way to the island we saw several whales and a turtle.

Luck will determine your experience. For the days prior to my visit, all the tourists I met said it was a total waste of money due to lack of visibility. The day I went was totally clear and I saw mating turtles, humpback whales, and...More

We stayed at Pirate Cove (not our favorite) but the dive company, Cano Divers, was AMAZING! They were so helpful and made my first experience diving incredible. My dad has done over 300 dives and he was so impressed by their professionalism and knowledge. We...More

An amazing walk through the island reveals many wonders of nature. birds of many varieties, flora, fauna and many beautiful vistas. The walk is for moderate hikers, nothing too strenuous for my late 50's going south, out of shape physique. the park offers a beach...More

Been to this Island with La Perla del Sur for a snorkel trip. It was the best snorkel trip ever. When you arrive at this Island you have to pay the park ranger and you get pointed out 2 spots to go snorkeling. Between the...More

We've visited Cano island multiple times, but the last time was 9 years ago. The condition of the reef has SIGNIFICANTLY deteriorated since our last visit, likely due to a combination of overuse (I would estimate 5 to 10 boats daily) and the crown of...More

We got to see whales with babies, both jumping (not everybody is that lucky, but the people at the hotel said in August you definitely see whales). Good lunch (included), nice beach with lots of macaws. Guides were experts at finding the whales.

Snorkeling was great - saw turtles and white tipped reef sharks - but on the way to and from the island we saw so many whales! AMAZING!

After having done a whale watch tour from Dominical which was a bit disappointing (but hey, it's nature, can't be lucky all the time) we did this tour which was absolutely brilliant! 5 or 6 turtles, reef sharks, many many other fish during snorkeling. And...More

We went in the wet/green season (August) and never had the rain stop us from doing anything we wanted. It always rained late in the day. The best strategy is to get up early when it is cooler. (The early sunrise and... More

My understanding is that the whale sharks and humpbacks will be gone by January. You will see rays and small white tip sharks.
