We visited in January 2017 during what turned out to be a particularly cold and wet winter. We didn't see much wildlife but that may have been due to the time of day. We walked several of the trails including a strenuous one up the hill. We thought it might be too difficult because we hadn't brought our hiking poles.... More

Lots of good trails here. Over two days I did parts of 5 of them. Would like to go back in Spring when things are blooming.

We love visiting the Hassayampa River Preserve. It is such a different and wonderful place to visit. We take our out-of-town visitors here and everyone really enjoys themselves.

A beautiful spot, lots of good trails all around the property, but one of the remarkable things about this place is how well they look after the local hummingbirds. At the entrance to the office, there are 4 or 5 feeders, and hummingbirds throng around them, then scoot off to neighboring trees to let other birds feed. To be honest,... More

This is worth a visit to the area to see if you are up for a long hike or just a short walk around the preserve. In the midst of the dry desert, there is always some water running through the preserve, so it gives you a sense of being much further away from the desert. It has nice shady... More

This is a great destination for some nature photography without having to hike into the mountains. A trail map is available at the entrance. The trails are laid out nice and easy to follow. There are very nice viewing & seating points placed strategically around the small lake. If you are into bird or other nature photography, you can stake... More

We visited in winter after a fairly heavy rain -- the preserve was gorgeous with lots of water in the river and the trails were covered with soft leaves. We saw a fox and many beautiful birds. The bridge was gone so we couldn't go to the lookout, but we did all the other trails and they were excellent. It... More

Very interesting and pretty. I will be returning at various times throughout the year to take in all this place has to offer.

This old ranch house, lake and walking paths is great for families (bring your lunch) and bird watchers. Best to see it when the river has water. $5 is a reasonable fee.

There are several walk. We did two of them. Not too long and beautiful as they wind along the river. We were utterly alone with nature. And the main desk person was enormously helpful. Must say this: Being city dwellers, it took us awhile to determine that the large piles of poop near the trail were herbivore (cow), not carnivore... More
