We took a gamble and took a leisurely walk through the River Preserve. Great and easy walk. Parking lot is being redone, so you'll have to park a bit farther.

Great place for a guided birding or nature tour. Many of the desert plants are well labeled. Birds in February were not abundant. There is a spring-fed small lake not connected to the Hassayampa River--again, odd for a desert area. Lots of shade and nice...More

Unless you like to walk in sand, see absolutely no wildlife and pay $10 for the privilege. No water in the river worth speaking of therefore no wildlife. Parking lot being revamped . You have to go a little ways to the additional parking. Disappointing...More

Other than a few typical bird species, we saw no wildlife. If you just want to walk on easy trails with a few birds overhead without cactus sticking to you, this is a nice place to go.

Huge cottonwoods and towering palms in the desert? You bet. Not a lot to do here, but it was an interesting place to visit. We strolled around the lake path and marveled at the forest that seemed so out of place. They say this is...More

Hassayampa River Preserve has short hiking trails and is great for bird watching. We also saw a kingsnake on our walk. There are plenty of benches to take in the riparian area. If you hike to the top of Lykes lookout you won't be disappointed!...More

This is a nice spot to wander through especially on a hot day. Paths are meandering through the area with birds if you take your time. There are a number of feeders by the visitor center that had a lot of birds feeding. Information at...More

I love visiting the preserve. Nice peaceful spot for seeing our local flora and fauna, especially birds. Several trails give one the opportunity to stroll through nature. A well done museum and botanical garden awaits as well. Don't miss it!

Great birding and pleasant hiking trails. When it starts getting hot in the Valley of the Sun, this is a great place to cool off a little.
