We were not able to spend as much time here as we would have liked to because it was a last minute decision to check it out. If you go, plan ahead and go to their website to get a permit. Only a limited number...More

This is a fantastic hike! Brings sturdy shoes and a hiking pole because most of the hike is done through the water. You will need to make a reservation well in advance through recreation.gov, only 50 people allowed in a day. You can go for...More

Aravaipa Canyon is gorgeous. Spending a hot October day in one of Arizona’s few perennial streams was a grand escape. From the west entrance there are many cottonwood trees providing shade (summer and fall) along the river banks. We walked through clouds of yellow butterflies....More

We hiked into Aravaipa from the west entrance. Even though it was over 90 degrees, the creek kept us cool. Nice treat for a hot day.

I hiked from the west end in about 4 miles. Walked in water much of the time. The views were awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed hiking here and hope to go farther next time.

Be prepared to wade back and forth across the river. It never got close to our knees but definitely over the tops of our hiking boots.

Trip to Aravaipa Canyon is well worth! I did 3 day backpacking trip in October and really enjoyed the fall weather in the canyon. This is a easy water hike. You can hike through the canyon and choose one of the many campsite around. Beautiful...More

First, you must have a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get there and not be a nervous driver. But the drive is alone is quite an experience. The trail was so lovely-around each bend was a different vista. We like "off-the-beaten-path and this certainly fit...More
