In the middle of a head water swamp it begins. The walk is elevated and the surrounding swamp is beautiful. Best wildlife viewing is early of late day, But this is also Misquito tome so go prepared. Great history in this area.

I love that this spot is preserved. Just a short stop for us, but was nice to get out and walk on the boardwalk. No swamp at all, but you could still see how high the water gets. Lovely little fall walk. There are some...More

Thank you for taking the time to stop and stretch your legs. The best time to come and see the swamp at its fullest would be during late spring to late summer/early Fall. We appreciate your response.

Driving from Little Rock to Memphis, we saw a sign for this park and figured, "What the heck? We've got the time." We drove (and drove) following the signs and, about the time we were ready to give up, saw the sign for the final...More

The Louisiana Purchase State Park is kind of difficult to classify. My wife and I visited in the summer and there were a lot of bugs there. The land is very different than the area around it. It is swampland in contrast to the flatter...More

This was a great place to visit especially in the fall when the leaves are changing. I never realized this piece of history was located in Arkansas. Bring insect repellent for there are a lot of bugs.
