Do not expect amenities, this is the forest. Nice asphalted parking area, picnic tables. Most importantly the plaques recognizes and remembers the many lives lost from a horrible battle during the Civil War in April 1864. The trail through the forest is great exercise, nothing...More

Interesting history of an extended skirmish during the Civil War. Little more than a plaque and a parking space. In fact 6 plaques, about a dozen spaces and a picnic table or two. I was going to take a pic but couldn't find anything to...More

We like to go for walks along the path at Poison Springs. The last time we were there they were doing a reenactment, but we just missed it😕 One of the reenactors let me take some pictures of him, though! It was great! There are...More

Not even the location of the battle. A few signs telling about the battle. A few picnic tables, nothing else. This was a battle of the Red River campaign. Doesn't it deserve at least a sign at the battlesite?

A quiet wooded area with picnic tables and interpretive signage about the Civil War battle that claimed 300 supply wagons of the Union army plus the k death of 100's of men North and South.

I have been coming to this state park since i can remember and still find new things on the trail. Great place to get out and enjoy nature and do a little grilling

Nothing to do here but look at a small civil war display and walk through the woods. Overall it's a nice clean park, but we usually just stop here as 'one last thing to do' before driving home from White Oak Lake

We stopped at Poison Springs on our Civil War 150th trip. We spent 30 minutes reading the markers, enjoying the cool weather, and the lack of crowd. There was a short nature trail and a great place for a picnic if you're here around lunch.
