We visited with my mom (74) and my son (13). It was very interesting. The guide tour was not expensive and given in english. (Other languages also available) Easy to walk through. Take something to drink with you. A piece of history that must be seen!

We spent a foggy, chilly November morning here and I'll never forget it. It's like a scene from a history book and something everyone should see.

I have Auschwitz on my bucket list and am on a 2 week visit to Germany with my husband. He is here in Munich for business. We spent the first week driving the romantic road having a lovely visit through Bavaria. He surprised me by scheduling a tour of Dachau as he has zero interest in this type of thing.... More

Concentration camp - Dachau With "Arbeit Macht Frei" on the gate, this is a significant irony that sparks a chilling worthwhile awakening. At here, you can get to know about the history of WWII and the experience at the camp, which is depressing yet important at the same time. Germany have done something terribly wrong, but they faced it and... More

A grim, sobering experience and reminder of man's inhumanity to man. Worthwhile taking time to visit the site if you're in the Munich area.

Using our multi-day all network pass, we travelled from Marienplatz to Dachau on S2 and bus 726. Took one of the memorial site English tours. Guide was excellent and provided a comprehensive history of the site including pre- and post-war, with connections to current events in the world. Very engaging guide and encouraged visitors to ask questions. My wife was... More

In Dachau things seem more sanitized than compared to the Auschwitz compound which I would say has a more chilling cast. Here there are more symbols of hope dotting the landscape - chapels here and there for visitors to ponder over the inhumanities people can descend to. A worthwhile trip from Munich to remind ourselves of the darkness that exists... More

Within easy access of Munich, less than 30 minute train and connecting bus journey. Very well laid out self guided tour through the camp. Plenty of information re the horrors that were perpetrated during the Nazi era. Well worth the trip out, a very sobering experience.

I was guided through this Memorial by a Viator guide named Alun Evans. I would highly recommend him for his knowledge and skills in explaining the importance of this site. As far as the place itself. It is a haunting and grim reminder of humans ability to treat each other with horrible cruelty. If you have the stomach for it,... More

I have been wanting to visit one of the camps since seeing a Holocaust exhibit in London a few years ago. This was the first camp I have seen and as we were in the area I really wanted to visit. We did the audio guide which was good, you are given the guide and a map with numbers that... More
