Really enjoyed an evening here. A lot to see and take in. Wonderfully quiet the later you go, and why not given the perpetual daylight. Easy to park, easy to explore. Sped spot time here. Beautiful solitude.

Don't hang around in Rekyjavik go to the North where you will see the real Iceland. Lake Myvatn has everything and more! Just up the road is the best Thermo Baths, half the price of the Blue Lagoon and more authentic.

Some great photos of the lake from the south/southwest side where the land masses inside the lake really pop out from the water.

A drive round is not enough. Get out of the car at various car parks for a short walk. The bird life is very varied and tame, the lake is so shallow that you can see the bottom and all the algea. The lava formations...More

Hi! On your trip to Lake Myvatn in the winter did you do a self-drive or a tour? We are thinking of going next March and do a self-drive. Do you have any tips for winter holiday there? Thanks in advance.
