Laugarvatn Fontana is composed of a series of interconnected baths and steam rooms that complement each other to create a healthy, natural and unique spa experience.Three steam rooms, collectively called GUFAN, have been built over a natural hot spring that has been used since 1929. The temperature of the steam varies depending on the temperature of the hot spring and weather, usually between 40°C (104°F) and 50°C (122°F). Humidity is very high in the steam room cabins. Grids in the floor of the steam rooms allow guests to hear and smell the boiling natural hot spring underneath, creating a natural and totally unique experience.Next to the steam room is YLUR, a Finnish-style sauna. The temperature is between 80°C (176°F) and 90°C (194°F), with a lower humidity than the steam room having a big window facing the lake of Laugarvatn. LAUGA, SÆLA, and VISKA are interconnected outdoor mineral baths that vary in depth, size and temperature. Some areas are suitable for relaxation and others offer space for movement and playfull moments. Stone artwork made by Icelandic artist, Erla Thórarinsdóttir, enhance each visitor’s experience. VISKA, the hot tub, is built at a slightly higher level than the other baths, providing a panoramic view of the beautiful surroundings while the healthy water nourishes both body and soul.Completing the ensemble are VATNIÐ and STRÖNDIN — the lake and the beach. Visitors will reach VATNIÐ through a gate. STRÖNDIN has warm black sand, which has been shown to be beneficial for those suffering from arthritis and other joint illnesses. VATNIÐ provides an opportunity to cool down between visits to GUFAN and YLUR, a temperature shift that is both healthy and strengthening

We stopped here after a day of circling the Golden Circle on the way back to our B&B near Selfoss. How different from the Blue Lagoon (which we did straight on arrival in Iceland). First, at least 50% of bathers were Icelandic (Blue Lagoon was...More

This was our first stop at a geothermal bath in Iceland (we did the Blue Lagoon the next day). This was nice introduction. It is small and relaxing. The cafe is good. We spent about an hour. It's on the Golden Circle. (We went from...More

A simple spa with four pools of varying temperatures from cool to hot. Steam rooms. And you can jump in the cold lake if you want to. Avoid the bread demo it's just a tourist trap of some not terrible not great bread/cake that they...More

Between Thingvellir and Geysir on the 'golden circle' tourist trail, this small natural hot spring resort features a half-dozen pools of varying depths and (warm!) temperatures, steam rooms, and access to a cold lake for quick invigorating temperature changes. Kids are free, and water wings...More

Totally not worth it. It's just like a normal pool here in Iceland but the price is to expensive, so not worth it

Bakery tour is a total ripoff, you pay 1600 ISK for 5 minutes of standing in the wind. You go outside to the right of the building, where the wooden boxes are. They bury their bread in the hot sand. They take out one of...More

I wouldn't call this place a spa, cause this definitely not the place to go to relax. I understand that for family it's nice to enjoy a spa like environment with your kids (we were there with my stepdaughter), but being in a pool were...More

Since Blue Lagoon is so pricey now, we were looking for a geothermal pool that was less expensive and not as crowded. This is the place! Beautiful scenery! Very clean. Multiple temperature pools and saunas to choose from. We went later in the evening and...More

We really enjoyed our visit here. There are several different pools of varying temperatures and one which is quite shallow and great for little ones. A much nicer experience than blue lagoon. Smaller and more intimate. Highly recommended.

We were a group of five adults, two teenagers and three kids. For admission we paid 26.000 ISK and an additional 1.600 ISK for rental of two towels. A total of 27.600 ISK or EUR 230. We had to share lockers (no discount) and the...More

You can bring your own or rent one there. I only brought my swimsuit and towel. I didn't feel the need for a robe. It is a brief walk to and from the pools to the shower and changing area.

Hi. It's in the middle of nowhere so you need some sort of vehicle. Not sure about the tour as it's not really a tourist site i.e. Touristy type. Google and see if any tours visit it. They have golden circle accommodation... More
