Well laid out but small with good explanations. Would only need a hour so combine with a visit to the Lacock Abbey and it's gardens. The village is worth a visit on its own.

Excellent exhibit showing the evolution of photography. I was particularly impressed by the daguerreotypes; they look as if they were taken yesterday.

A small museum about the history of photography. Very interesting and brilliant to be able to stand right where one of the first photographs was taken in the Abbey. Amazing how far the camera has come in a relatively short period of time.

If you are interested in the history of photographic processing and image making, then you will love this small, but well constructed museum. Integral to the history not just of photography, but to the area also. Probably not much fun for children, but for enthusiasts most definitely.

Interesting exhibition of the history of photography and the part played in it by Henry Fox Talbot. Easy to navigate and great examples of cameras from the birth of photography to the modern day iPhone. Would have liked to have been able to buy a book about photographic history but maybe I missed it.

Calling all photographers ... this is the place for you. Like many specialist museums, you can attend with a personal impression that you know quite a lot about the subject. And like many such museums, you'll be surprised. Very educational, brilliant design, just the right amount of technical information, and excellently laid out.

This National trust property and adjoining village is a not-to-be-missed place to visit. The museum, though small, is filled with interesting artefacts and information on the pioneering photography work of William Henry Fox Talbot. The Abbey, a location used in Harry Potter films, has an intriguing history too. And you'll be enthralled and thrown back hundreds of years as you... More
