Relaxing
Nov 2019 • Couples
On the edge of town, a few mins from the car park is this lovely little swimming pool filled with natural hot water.
It costs 10 000avr (£2.15) to enter and women have to wear a swimming cap, but it’s amazingly warm and does not smell.

Public washing area and swimming pool
Oct 2019
We intended to take a bath here in the private cabins with a massage but after waiting and observing the cabins and procedures, we decided that there was nothing attractive about it. The private baths are mini cabins where villagers take their weekly warm bath for sanitary purposes, after which the bathtub is cleaned. The mini, tiled, massage cabins were probably for medical purpose only; the slightly handicapped doctor came after some searching.
The swimming pool had clear water, but is only refreshed once a week on Tuesday, so Wednesday is probably the day with the cleanest water.
The pool and private bathtubs are very popular with the local population.

Large outdoor thermal hot pool
Nov 2019 • Couples
The pool is situated about a 15 min walk from the centre of the village. You have to find the pedestrian suspension bridge over the river. It costs 5000AR about £1-25 per person. Women have to wear bathing hats. The are changing cubicles but no lockers so you need to take a bag to put your clothes in and carry to the pool. The pool is large and very hot. It closes at lunch times and at 17.30hrs.

Definitely worth a try after a long journey or hike in the National Park
Jul 2019 • Friends
Ranomafana means 'Hot Water'. It was named because of its natural hot spring. Today there is a swimming pool and a large hot tub next to it. Don't be put off by the very unprepossessing approach to the Station Thermale. On foot you go down a very unpromising muddy track of a side road before turning right across the side of the local football pitch, through a rickety market and then across an even more rickety wooden footbridge or giddy suspension bridge (you have a choice) to the ticket office. Entry costs 5000 ariare - go to 'La Piscine' NOT 'Le bain' as that is a public washroom mainly frequented for locals. The Piscine is gated and has very basic amenities (a changing cubicle, but no lockers so most people deposit their things by the side of the pool). The water however is pleasantly warm and relaxing after a long journey or sweaty yomp through the National Park and I felt invigorated after an hour long soak in the hot tub.

The best thing after NP
Jul 2019 • Couples
It was a great experience after a 8h tour through the Ranomafana NP to lay in the warm water of Station Thermale. Very close to the city center, not very grounded, clean and very well kept.

Relax after Park Visit
Jul 2019 • Couples
It is a nice place to relax after you have visited the National Park. The water is warm. Entrance fee of 5000 Ar is a good value for money.

Not my thing

A swimming pool heated with thermal spring. It’s okay, not really a soaking thermal pool like you would think.

For locals
Oct 2017
Poor and bad maintained infrastructure, attended by locals only. I had a cheap massage nearly in open air, on a shabby bed and given by a local guy in a dirty doctors coat. Hygiene not up to western standards anywhere in this place

Good price but really for desperate Europeans who have not swum in tropical climes. Not sure would put my head under water there.

Lovely outdoor swimming pool...
Apr 2017 • Couples
It is supposedly closed every Tuesday, but when we visited it was closed - on a Wednesday !!! Lovely large tiled swimming pool with very hot clean water for slightly more than £1 equivalent for a foreigner ... Have visited over several years and the water seems to be getting hotter, year by year ... Could only manage about 30 minutes this time as my blood was about to boil ... Very relaxing and opens at 6.00 am.. The wooden bridge over the river connecting the pool to the town was washed away in Cyclone Enawo but has now been rebuilt !
