Overview

The Shanxi Museum is a wonderful provincial museum managed by the government of Shanxi Province, home of some of the oldest history in China. The museum is located in Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi, in a modern four-storey building. It was wonderful collections of old history, Chinese money, architecture, Buddhist sculptures and much more. I'd be happy to write a full description if this listing is approved. We totally enjoyed visiting the museum. They got the best treasures of Chinese history. From bronze status of 5000 years ago, to gold coins, paintings, and ceramics. Also love the temporary exhibition of a Chinese artist Xin Dongwang’s life and art.

the exhibitions focused on the zhanguo era, or the warring states era. the museum does have guided talk, which make the tour really informative

Lots of exhibits about the history of China, except it wasn't very interesting for our kids. Long entry queue but they let seniors and young children skip the line.

We spent our first afternoon in Shanxi here and were really glad we did. The museum (which is free) shows, chronologically how the area developed. It is extremely interesting how and why this region became so rich and powerful 500 years ago. The facility is...More

Because ShanXi is th place of the earlier Chinese kingdoms, here you can see many of the ancient artifacts like stone and bronze wares, ancient weapons, coins & money. You don't see a lot of famous paintings & stuff of latter times. The museum itself...More
