It's nice to see one or two little pieces of history still left in Taiyuan, which is mostly a city of urban sprawl. I took a taxi to the twin pagodas from the hotel, after 2 taxi's refused to take me there for unknown reasons. The third taxi dropped me off in view of the site (when he saw new... More

I went to the pagoda last year in winter after a snow fall. It is really quiet then because a few people visiting made me feel comfortable without much noises. It is a bit difficult to climb up and down and a llitle weird to see modern buildings nearby at the top ot the pagpda.

After visiting the Shaanxi Museum and Meng Shan Giant Buddha, I wasn't sure whether to relax in the hotel or visit this temple. After all, I've seen a lot of temples in China. I'm glad I visited this temple though, it is very beautiful with two fantastic pagodas. I climbed the inside of one of them. The best thing is... More

I spend 2 days in Taiyuan, the most interesting thing is to visit Shuangta Temple, traditional architecture are are amazing... the highlight is climbing the bigger temple and take a photo of the small temple.

Ancient monument in otherwise industrial town. Lovely peaceful place. You can climb the pagodas for a stunning view, smog permitting. Otherwise walk the grounds and visit the temple on the lower level..

Nice to have quieter tourist spot. Our young friends enjoyed the pagoda climb and we got to the top eventually. Good change up from the normal tourist circuit in the area.

We arrived late in the day and there was a bit of a revolt on the bus with some people wanting to miss it. Our tour guide ignored them and we were glad she did, it's in a lovely setting, very peaceful.

I went to visit the temple during the Chinese New year of 2013. It was a very calming place. Since the whole city (and country really) was celebrating the holiday I got the temple to myself. I arrived there by bus. You can take bus 812 or 820 to get to the temple. Both buses can be picked up at... More

Lovely old stone pagodas and nice gardens. Very photogenic. Slightly out of the main town and off the beaten track but worth the short journey. Make your taxi driver wait for you if you can make yourself understood as you may not otherwise get back into town.
