The exterior of the temple is quite distinctive relative to the laundry list of other temples you'll see in Old Bagan. It seems to have Mughal and Ottoman influences. It's true that the interior is less visually outstanding than the exterior but if you are visiting the temple searching for a vortex of calm, you will find it. Remember to... More

Due to its height, you just cannot miss it. This is the largest temple with grand architecture adjacent to Ananda temple. It is better to visit before the sunset as its exterior architecture is also very attractive, and Bagan is pretty dark after the sunset.

This is the tallest temple in Bagan and it is hard not to notice it. It's architecture is impressive and beautiful. The interior of the temple is less impressive than its exterior.

The Old Bagan Archaeological Zone fascinated visitors with her innumerous pagodas and stupas lined along Bagan-Nyaung U Road and Anawrahta Road. The temple exploration was fun and intriguing even though the afternoon weather was bolting hot. I do not cycle in Singapore as the traffic volume in my city is always heavy. Reckless and negligent heavy vehicle drivers seem to... More

This 12th century temple is the highest in Bagan and it's really impressive. There isn't as much to see inside like at nearby Ananda Temple, but the structure itself is very majestic. It makes for some great photos both from a distance and up close.

This is one of the biggest temples in Bagan but currently there is no chance to enter. Using e-bikes for sightseeing is the best way to explore Bagan and you have some spectacular views of Thatbyinnyu Temple on your way to or from Ananda.

Wie Wie was the highlight of the place. The temple itself is not that great inside but Win Win the artist is very friendly and honest. Compared to a lot of sandpainting artists, He is not gonna put pressure on you to buy his art. He will take the time to explain to you everything and he will give you... More

Visited as part of a tour group. There seem to be so many different styles of temples, stupas and pagodas in Bagan. This is having some restoration work at the moment. The Buddha statues inside seem a different style to others on out trip. Think it is worth the visit. A few shopping opportunities outside too !!

Thatbyinnyu is still within the walled city, so all walkable in old bagan. Lots of vendors trying to sell their paintings, even through the gated windows of the temple.

Unfortunately, you can't climb to the top. Walk by just to catch a view of the tallest temple, and take a few photos. It is indeed impressive and can be seen from the top of other temples in the area.
