I went to Songkhla all the way from Hatyai just to see this statue, because I was rated as #1 attraction in Songkhla. Other than the statue, there's nothing much to see in that area apart of from the beach.

Located at Samila Beach, this statue is immensely popular with tourists and visitors queuing to snap photos against the background of the Gulf of Siam. Beware of the slippery uneven black rocks especially on drizzly days!

I suppose this is worth seeing but you'll be lucky to take a photo of the mermaid without crowds sitting on it. It's a poor copy of the Copenhagen mermaid but I'm sure it's made money for the shops and street sellers next to it...More

Not too crowded and the beach is nice. Plenty of things to do there. Have great seafood, or picnic on the beach under shady trees. A lot of hawkers selling street food.

Interesting to have the mermaid statue at the beach itself for all to see. The statue is created based on a famous Thai folklore. It's easily spotted and great for picture taking- especially with the white sand beneath, blue water and mountains at the horizon....More

Famous beach attraction. But not much activity you can do here. Just take a photo with the mermaid statue and some horse riding. You can shopping for souvenir here too.

Stunning statue, stunning beach, worth the effort to get there. Long boardwalk and plenty of places to eat. Plenty of shade and even time for a ride on a horse with a " cowboy"
