Spectacular mountains

One of the great mountains in Romania. National Park, very well preserved. 2 peaks over 2500 meters: Peleaga and Papusa. Bucura Lake is the biggest glacial lake in Romania.

We were there for a few days to climb a few mountains and relax in the pure nature. We were lucky enough that the weather was nice and sunny. There were cold nights, but during days we had spectacular views. If you like to hike with full gear on your back and can survive in nature, these mountains are the... More

I was in Retezat National Park last month for two days and can't say enough good things. The park staff went out of their way to help us learn our way around what was available, and the beauty of these mountains is something to behold. Retezat is NOT a place where you should come expecting lots of amenities -- it... More

Very wild and spectacular mountains. If you decide to explore starting from Campu lui Neag mountain village you should walk towards to Cheile Butii and after 3 hours of hiking you should reach Buta Barack (Cabana Buta) at 1568 m altitude. From this way you shoud head to Saua Pelegii and go through Poiana Pelegii. From this point you follow... More

We stayed at a camping site near Lake Bucura for 2 nights (tent). There are a lot of trails that you can hiking on and that start at this lake. The landscape is amazing, especially because of the combination between the high peeks, green grass and forests and blue lakes. You can snap some great pictures. The trails are not... More

Retezat is a place for weekends and also for long staying. Rausor - Pietrele - carnic are turist attracions were you can find camping places, hotels, villas. From these points you can take routes on the mountain. The most important sights are the mountain peaks and also the lakes.
