The occasion for my visit to Guachoya Art Center was attend the opening reception for a new exhibit called the Mid South Odysseys, “Celebrating the Treasures.” I was totally impressed with the gallery and the exhibit. The gallery has a large wide open floor plan with three main galleries specifically designed to exhibit art. Guachoya Art Center also has a very nice furnished room off the hallway called Nancy’s Parlor which is used by local civic clubs and other organizations for smaller meetings and functions. The gallery provided the reception with a variety of drinks, appetizers, and light food, along with adult beverages. The crowd attending the reception appeared to enjoy the food. The Mid South Odysseys exhibit is very impressive with over 80 works art consisting of a variety of art forms from 7 different artist including painters, sculptors, and photographers. Several of the landscape photographs have been processed with special effects which give a truly unique flare. The exhibit is scheduled through June 25th and I would definitely recommend a visit to Guachoya Art Center to see this exhibit.
