We had a wonderful experience! We bought the full package, and were the only people in the park for most of the morning.
The highlight was of course meeting Kiki the orangutan, as well as interacting with the elephants. But we ended up feeding many more animals (over the fence) too with our guide.
The enclosures aren’t what you would see in more typical western zoos, but the animals still seemed well looked after.

We’ve been lucky to have experienced all sorts of animal encounters, including feeding elephants in Bali, tigers in the Philippines, sharks in the Bahamas and cuddling baby pandas in China - but this place is the best yet, and amazing value too! A private guide took us round, introduced us to all the animals, and took loads of photos and videos for us with my phone. The animals all seem happy and well cared for, with ample space and appropriate environments, and respond to the voices of the guides who clearly care about them. At no point did we feel rushed - in fact we spent a leisurely 2 hours meeting and feeding all the animals. There were no attempts to get more money out of us - no staged photo shots, no vendors - we even had to ask if we could go into the little gift shop (which only sells one thing - beautiful locally handmade bags) and again no pressure to buy. We had pre-booked the orangutan experience with lunch (which had several choices and was lovely, in a very pleasant cafe area with super clean toilets!) - playing with Kiki the 5 yr old orangutan was amazing and we must have had 15-20 minutes with her, just the two of us. I cannot recommend this place highly enough especially for those with children, but we two ‘big kids’ loved it too. Make sure to buy some food baskets to feed the animals, and I’d suggest going early (it opens at 9am) as we had the place almost to ourselves - even as we left around lunchtime there were still only a few visitors around. Excellent place!

Fantastic opportunity to see some exotic fascinating animals and birds. Some parts of this place are questionable as there are many birds of all kinds perched randomly around the paths that have all obviously had their wings clipped but they do all look very well looked after. We had a great experience with Kiki the orangutan she's very sweet and isn't forced to do anything she doesn't want to she's just happy to play and interact with you on her own terms. The staff were brilliant and knowledgeable and our high tea in the restaurant was fantastic 👌

One of the best zoo's I have ever visited. You get to interact with animals (safety) and play with them. The park is well maintained and you also get a personal guide, which comes with you throughout the park. In our case his name is Adi and he did a fantastic job. The food at the park restaurant was also delicious.

A wonderful time at the Lombok Wildlife Park! Wahyu was our guide around the park and was perfect! Very good English, extremely knowledgeable and treated the animals very well - they have such a lovely bond. Highly recommend! One of my best days yet in Lombok

Last review must of got deleted. Can not stress enough how bad this place is. So upsetting to see the animals kept in the small cages and enclosures.

I was so looking forward to this experience on this being our first trip to Indonesia.
As a true animal lover, the way the animals are treated is of utmost importance to me.
I know that there are places in Thailand that rescue elephants and care for them. Indonesia isn’t quite there yet. That said, The Lombok Wildlife Park seems to treat all their animals well. The fact that they don’t allow people to ride the elephants was huge for me. Our guide, who was excellent, assured us they don’t allow this now for over a year.
So, unless anything changes, I recommend this as a great experience and one I won’t soon forget.

We were a group of seven. Some wanted to wash elephants, some didnt. Some wanted to cuddle orangutans, some didnt. The park provided a guide. Elephants we washed and fed. Orangutan cuddled. Lots of birds to hold and feed. Patted the hippo and the Burma python. Fed monkeys, the sunbear and were invited into the Binturung enclosure. A great half day out. Well worth it.

Couldn't recommend a better wildlife park! Visited during the week so very quiet, did the experience including Elephant Bath and Orangutan Experience which also included a private tour, which was the most expensive option at £43 per person (well worth it!). Animals seemed very well looked after and happy, staff had a good relationship with them and were very knowledgeable. We recommend visiting early on a weekday as we had the whole park to ourselves and were able to make the most of it! Lots of animals to see and touch, great for adults and kids!!
Our ticket included the 3 course lunch which we couldn't fault! Great day out!

Is this park ranked or endorsed by any world wildlife organizations? Before going, I'd like to know if they have credible 3rd parties backing up their treatment of the animals.

I would suggest you go and make an informed decision yourself. I did it this way and was more than pleased with the conditions and treatment of the animals. It’s not a caged zoo.

Is this still open these days? Unsure as they were closed just after the earthquake but I’ve seen reviews posted in last few days.

Hi Ziyad, You can go to their official website and ask a question by email or phone to get official information. The review thats made in last few days is not represent that the reviewer just visit the park in the same days. They might be already visit last month and just made a review yesterday.

About how many miles is the Lombok Elephant Park from Lombok? Is it possible to taxi there from the Lombok cruise terminal? Anyone know approximately how much the ride would cost one way?
Peter M
Mataram, Indonesia226 contributions
I would suggest the taxi price would be about 150 000 one way from Mataram or $15 Australian.

Hi there, yes, you may do those things at Lombok Elephant Park, meet and greet with the orangutan starts from 11 to 12, and from 3 to 4 every day* if the weather and his condition is ok. For the animal feeding, you can do this as well, they have fruit basket that you can purchase for IDR 50,000. Well , i hope you have a great day, i am sure you will :)
