High atop 2,753-foot Mount magazine, the state's tallest mountain, this scenic Arkansas state park was developed in the Mount Magazine Ranger District of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest through a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service. Sweeping vistas of broad river valleys, deep canyons, and distant mountains welcome outdoor enthusiasts to Arkansas's high point.

This is a place to enjoy sightseeing, exploring the mountain and nature study. The park is a destination for outdoor sports and extreme adventure enthusiasts that offers rock climbing, rappelling, hang-gliding, mountain biking, horseback riding, backpacking, and ATV adventure. An ATV guide service is available. The park also offers overlooks, hiking trails, a picnic area with restrooms, pavilion, and a visitor center with an exhibit gallery and gift shop. The park offers 18 campsites (two Class AAA and 16 Class AA with tent only options).

The Lodge features 60 guest rooms, a restaurant, conference center, business center, indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center and game room.

Thirteen fully equipped cabins share the same bluff and seeping views of the valley as the lodge.

On entering the park, stop at the visitor center for great information and helpful suggestions. View the exhibits to learn more about the park history and environments and pick up the pamphlets on hiking trails, etc. The hikes listed as easy and moderate are as described, most leading to beautiful views of the valley or stunning cliffs. I having been coming to Mount Magazine ever since 2003. The views atop Mount Magazine at the various places are sensational! The drive up north AR 309 is beautiful like Mount Nebo, but has less tight switchbacks. The first viewing area is when you get to the beautiful Mount Magazine State Park sign; those views are exquisite! Cameron Bluff has... More

As requested, I am revising this review to cover only one subject: Hotel. This is in contrast to the original review that shared the full experience at this state park that also included our experience at the restuarant and attractions. We made a spring break excursion with a teen that included three parks/areas in Arkansas. We splurged on 2 nights... More

My wife and I stayed for 1 night in the Lodge. The park is beautiful and our room was so wonderful. The rooms are very large with a spa, balcony, nice TV, and very resort like. The park is just breathtaking. Lots of hiking trails. However, I would not consider MMSP for families with small children. It appears more adult... More

My husband & I spent a day here. From the visitor center, we hiked the North Rim trail to Signal Hill Trail to reach the highest point in Arkansas! Beautiful vistas but it was so special when it began snowing! Of course it didn't stick since the temps were in the upper 30's but it was so fun to hike... More

Stayed overnight at the lodge. The views were excellent. The only downside was that it was sometimes hard to find a parking area for the hiking trails.
